Election! is a card game with a light hearted take on an Australian Federal Election campaign. A game you can play by yourself or with another player, it is easy to learn and you can knock out a game in 10-15 minutes whenever you have a spare moment.

You don't need to know a thing about politics to enjoy it - but a healthy appreciation of the absurd is a must!

The game consists of two sides (Government and Opposition) and each game consists of either 33 or 55 'rounds' (player choice) where each round is a day in an Australian Federal Election campaign. Each day has an EVENT card (chosen at random from a selection of 96) that is turned over which indicates who won the day (or was a tied day), what happened ('Gaffe event - Opposition Win) and the relative score movement (+ X Margin Points to the winner of that day).

In addition, a limited number of STRATEGY cards are available for each player to deploy and earn extra Margin Points if an EVENT Card in their favour of the same type (Gaffe, Media etc) is turned over. There are also rules for countering opponent STRATEGY cards, each side has one particular ASSET card of one of the six categories which gives further bonuses, optional rules with SCENARIO cards and the last 10 rounds have double Margin Points on deployed STRATEGY cards - so do you save them up for the last 10 rounds but run the risk you can't play them?

To give you an idea of the style of the game, some EVENT cards include:

Gaffe EVENT (Opposition Win) - 'The PM announces how great it is to be in Bathurst. He is in Bundaberg.'

Media EVENT (Government Win) - 'The Opposition newspaper ads printed as "time for a new charge" instead of "change".'

Social Media EVENT (Government Win) - 'Government backbencher campaign video is so bad it becomes an ironic viral hit'

Each game is pretty quick, the scoring is straightforward and each event will bring a wry smile to anyone who has been an observer of politics. However, you don't need to know a thing about politics to play the game - it is still a game after all!
